Vervain fills up old ulcers, and likewise heals the consumption; it cures the old pain of the head; it closes wounds, dries them, and casts out the little stones; it mends dysenteries, and cures all the ills of the fingers, and the fevers of beasts of burden as well; it heals the falling sickness, the jaundiced, and the dropsical, and does good to all the entrails in the gout, and cures them warmly; it works against serpents; chilblains are healed by it; it is excellent against all the troubles of childbirth; and hung up, it purifies houses, or makes atonement for them.
